Lemoore High School’s resurgent softball team took a step backwards on Monday as Hanford West, playing at home, pounded out a 15-2 win over the visiting Tigers, putting a damper on the Tigers’ West Yosemite League opener.

The Tigers hope to rebound tonight (March 29) when they host Redwood High School in a 4:30 p.m. game. The Tigers, having played well the past few weeks, fell to 9-5 overall and 0-1 in the WYL.

On Monday, the Tigers could muster just three hits in the lopsided loss, ended after just five innings. Tiger pitchers gave up 12 hits as Lemoore’s Ashton Lucas got the loss.

For the Tigers, Sierra Phelps, Kendra Hawken, and Megan VanAllen had the only three hits for the Tigers. VanAllen’s hit drove home the only two Tiger runs in the second inning.

Hanford West scored 12 runs in the first to put the game out of reach for Lemoore. West is also on a roll of sorts, compiling an impressive overall record of 11-1-1. The Huskies are 2-0 in the WYL.
