Lemoore’s varsity girls’ softball team got itself back on track Friday night with a convincing win over Mt. Whitney in Visalia. The Tigers began the West Yosemite League campaign with back-to-back losses to Redwood and Hanford West.

Lemoore pounded out 13 hits to easily sweep past the Pioneers 12-2. Lemoore will host El Diamante Wednesday, April 5 at 4:30 p.m.

Lemoore improved to 1-2 in the WYL.

Sierra Phelps led the way Friday night as she had two hits, drove in three RBI and scored twice. Kendra Hawken went three for three in the game while Megan Ambriz and Kayla Antipora each had a pair of hits.

Winning pitcher Ashtyn Lucas went the distance against Mt. Whitney allowing just four hits and striking out five.

Lemoore scored seven times in the second inning to put the game out of reach for the Pioneers. They added three more in the third. Mt. Whitney scored once in the first and second innings.
