Tigers' tennis squad continues battle for WYL crown as playoffs loom

By The Leader Staff

The Lemoore boys’ tennis team had a pretty good week despite rain delays earlier in the week. Tuesday’s West Yosemite League match was postponed due to wet weather, but the Tigers played back to back matches and won both.

On Wednesday, Lemoore hit the road and swept Mt. Whitney 9-0 while the junior varsity pulled out a 3-2 win, and then the next day, El Diamante came to town and suffered the brunt of a powerful Tiger squad, losing 7-2.

Lemoore concludes league play this week with a trip to Golden west on Monday and final match at home against Hanford at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25. The West Yosemite League playoffs will be held Friday in Visalia.

The Tigers are 15-6 overall and 8-2 in the WYL and are just one game behind Redwood in the league standings.
