The West Yosemite League doubles championship came down to a pair of powerful duos – and both hailed from Lemoore High School. This year’s WYL championships were held at Golden West High School on Friday.

Earl Magno and Collin Bresenio finished second in the WYL.

The top seed Friday entering the tournament was the team of Drew Gobby and Spencer Denney, who breezed through the preliminary rounds – defeating teams from Redwood (8-3) and then El Diamante in the semis before facing teammates Earl Magno and Collin Bresenio in the finals.

Magno and Bresenio weren’t even seeded and took a longer route to the finals, beating Golden West 8-2, Mt. Whitney, 8-5 and then edged Redwood’s top team 8-6.

But they couldn’t get past their own teammates as Gobby and Denney won 6-3, 6-3.

The Tigers’ duo is expected to find out who they will face in the playoffs on Monday.
