Lemoore High School’s swimmers tuned up for the West Yosemite League championships with a convincing victory over Hanford last Thursday. The Tiger swimmers had a great day against Hanford as both the boys’ and girls’ teams won. The Lady Tigers edged the Bullpups 85-84, while the boys crushed Hanford 102-67.

Event winners for the Tigers included Chris Bonham in the 200 (1:55.98) and 500 freestyle (5:12.31) events, Cameron Olson in the 200 Individual medley 2:10.51), Calvin Rhodes in the 100 butterfly (1:00.33) and Trey Pietch in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.71).

All four Tigers have already qualified for the valley meet next week at Clovis West.  The boys also won the 200-medley relay (Chris Bonham, Riley Gibson, Calvin Rhodes and Cameron Olson) as well as the 400-freestyle relay.

On the girls’ side, Katelyn Pedersen won the 200 IM (2:31.17) and the 100 breaststroke in 1:19.73. She has qualified for valley in both events.  Samantha Costa won the girls 50 freestyle (29.17), and McKenna Davis won the 100 Freestyle in 1:05.90.  The girls’ 200 freestyle relay of Pedersen, Costa, Georgia Roach and Davis won, as did the 400-freestyle relay team of Roach, Skyler Reid, Costa and Melyssa Costa.

The WYL championships are this Thursday (April 4) and Friday at LHS, and the Valley championships are next Friday and Saturday at Clovis West.
