Tigers score some points, but Memorial survives with 53-46 victory in Friday night grid action

Lemoore scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter of Friday night’s game at San Joaquin Memorial, but it wasn’t enough as the Tigers dropped their first game of the year, a 53-46 loss to the Panthers. It was simply a case of too much offense for the visitors.

Lemoore hosts Buchanan Friday 7:30 p.m.

Lemoore fell to 1-1 on the season and will host powerful Buchanan High School on Friday in Tiger Stadium. The Bears are 2-0 coming off a 55-18 victory against Bullard. Buchanan opened the season by crushing Hanford 48-6.

Memorial quarterback Alex Trujillo had a field day against the Tigers, connecting with receiver Jalen McMillen for six touchdowns, including three long-ball scores from 46, 69 and 80 yards.

Trailing 20-7 in the second quarter, Lemoore closed the gap to 20-14 with a rushing touchdown, but the Panthers responded with a score of their own to grow their lead to 27-14.
