Police later arrested 35-year-old Beunju Moon and Ricardo “Ricky” Cervantes, 24, both from Lemoore. The two suspects fled on foot, and the victim drove himself to a convenience store where he received help.
During the search for the assailants, Lemoore police officers placed Liberty Middle School on a lockdown, fearing the two suspects may have been in the area. With help from the Kings County Sheriff’s Department, Kings County Probation officers, and Kings County Gang Task Force arrested the two men.
Video surveillance from a building nearby revealed the two suspects and a female fleeing the crime scene. Additional video surveillance showed a female, identified as Alejandra Maria Hernandez, as associating with the two suspects after the crime occurred the same day at a nearby business on North Lemoore Ave.
Police say that Alejandra is currently a person of interest in this investigation. The Lemoore Police Department is asking anyone with information about Alejandra’s whereabouts to call Detective Sergeant Santos at 559-924-9574.
In the earlier crime, officers searched the area for any items discarded by the suspects and recovered a handgun, ammunition, and personal identifying items belonging to the suspects. The two men were interviewed, transported, and booked into the Kings County Jail.
Police charged Moon with attempted murder, robbery, felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of methamphetamine. His bail was set at $575,000.
Cervantes was charged with attempted murder, robbery, and a parole hold. He is being held without bail.
