Tigers boys and girls off to slow start as hoop squads open in holiday tournaments

Lemoore’s varsity boys’ basketball team are 1-1 in the Kingsburg Varsity Basketball Tournament after a season-opening 75-67 loss to Dinuba Wednesday night and then Thursday’s 71-60 victory over Madera South.

The Tigers were expected to play Coalinga tonight in the tourney and have a game scheduled for Saturday.

The Tigers get some home cooking when they host Hanford West Tuesday night in the Event Center.

Tiger Girls’ Coach Jennifer Anderson’s hoop squad is off to a slow start, beginning the season in a pair of tournaments. Her team is 0-5 after a season-opening 71-48 loss to Fresno in the Selma Shoot-Out on Nov. 29.

They also lost to Kerman 62-36 and Sanger 51-49 at Selma.

The Tiger ladies are playing this week in the Hoover Holiday Classic and opened with a 49-18 loss to Hoover and a 49-26 setback top Sierra High School. The girls have more games scheduled today (Dec. 8 and Saturday, Dec. 9 at the Holiday Classic.

The Lady Tigers return home Monday for a matchup with Dinuba High School and then travel to Hanford West on Dec. 12.
