The West Hills College Lemoore Golden Eagles basketball team is on a roll of sorts, winning the first two of three Central Valley Conference game, the most recent a Wednesday night (Jan. 10) contest against Porterville College.

The Lady Eagles beat Porterville 53-50 in Lemoore to improve to 2-0 in league play, rebounding from a disappointing 83-41 loss to Merced College on Saturday, Jan. 6.

The Golden Eagles’ next action comes in a Wednesday, Jan. 17 contest at powerful Fresno City College. Game time is 5 p.m. The Lady Golden Eagles improved to 8-9 on the year at 2-1 in the CVC.

The Golden Eagles were led again by former Lemoore High School standout Taylor Vasquez who scored 18 points to lead all players.

Jasmine Gong and Adriana Gonzalez had nine and seven points respectively.

It was a strong second half that turned the tide for West Hills. Trailing 33-23 at the half, the Lady Eagles outscored Porterville 16-7 in the third and 14-10 in the final period to finally pull away.
