Lemoore’s boys’ basketball team looked impressive early as it thoroughly outplayed the host Bullpups in Friday night West Yosemite League action.  Unfortunately, Hanford decided to show up for the second half, beat the Tigers and continued its winning way.

When it was all over, despite their poorly played first half, the Bullpups came on strong in the second to beat the Tigers 80-69 and hold onto the league’s top spot with a 5-1 record. Hanford is 16-6 overall.

Lemoore fell to 10-9 overall and sports a 3-3 mark in the WYL, good enough for third place.

Lemoore’s next action comes Tuesday, Jan. 23 at Hanford West. Lemoore’s Lady Tigers will host the Huskies in a 7:30 p.m. game in the Lemoore Event Center. Lemoore also tackled the Bullpups and wound up on the losing end of a 71-38 decision.

Lemoore’s girls fell to 4-13 overall and are 2-4 in the WYL.

The Bullpups had to come on strong in the second half to get Coach Brad Felder’s 500th victory. Only two more coaches have more wins that Felder in the Central Section.

The Tigers roared early scoring 26 second-quarter points to take a 44-32 advantage into the halftime locker room. Bryce Hernandez led Lemoore with 16 points. Juelein Arroyo had 13 points while Joemyl Ragunton tossed in 11.

The Bullpups’ Karsten Gregory scored a game-high 26 while Austin Serpa and Jayshaun Collins had 16 and 15 points respectively.

Trailing in the third, Hanford began pouring it on, scoring 48 second-half points to keep the Tigers at bay. The Tigers' downfall came in the third period when they scored just 15 points.
