Lemoore police officers quickly respond to online post of student bringing gun to school

The Lemoore Police Department reacted quickly after received a call from a concerned citizen who saw an online post from someone threatening to bring a gun to school. The incident occurred on March 6 at about 8 p.m. when police received a call for service from a someone who spotted the online post.

Officer’s contacted and interviewed several people locating a person who suspected of posting the comment. The subject was interviewed, and a search was conducted of the subject’s residence. Officers found no firearms. Police determined that there was no threat, and the suspect had no immediate access to weapons.

It was recently, Feb. 26, that police arrested a Lemoore High School 16-year-old for bringing a gun to campus. Police reported that the juvenile had the gun in his backpack. An investigation followed, and police discovered that that student also had a high-capacity magazine.

A search of the suspect’s home resulted in additional firearms confiscated where police also found and seized additional weapons. Police also recovered another gun from a vehicle owned by the student’s father, 47-year-old David Escalera Sr.

The firearms found in the home were unsecured and readily accessible. One of the confiscated guns also had altered serial numbers.

Police arrested Escalera Sr. for felony child endangerment, criminal storage of a firearm, possession of an assault weapon, and possession of a firearm with altered serial numbers.
