Lemoore’s boys’ tennis team is off to a slow start in 2018. In their latest showing, a West Yosemite League match in Lemoore against Redwood High School, the Tigers fell 8-1, dropping to 1-1 in league play.

The Tigers are 1-4 overall.

The Tigers managed to complete their match Monday despite grey clouds threatening rain. The rain eventually arrived, but not before the Tigers dropped their league match, the only win a doubles victory featuring Earl Magno and Spencer Denney.

Magno was the only Tiger to challenge in singles play, losing in a third set tiebreaker.

“Even with the loss I believe the kids improved greatly over the last match, and they’re moving in the right direction,” said Tiger Coach Carla Bow.

The junior varsity team played well but still lost 2-3.

The Tigers’ next action comes Wednesday, March 14 at Mt. Whitney High School.

The Tigers also dropped their previous match, an 8-1 loss to Central Valley Christian in a March 8 match at Lemoore High School.

Lemoore’s only win against CVC came from Marjaby Bresenio, with his 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) victory over Cambell Moons.

The Lemoore boys managed to put on a show in their WYL opener against Hanford West. The Tigers crushed the Huskies 9-0 as Earl Magno, Collin Bresenio, Matthew Crisci, Luis Renteria, Marjaby Bresenio, and Luigi Patino all won their singles matches.

Mango and Bresenio won their doubles match in an 804 win over the Huskies as did Jonathan Santiago and Chris Avalos, 8-5 winners, and Blake Nunes and Riley Jacobs, 8-1 victors.
