The Lemoore boys’ tennis team is racking up the victories, its only stumble; it’s West Yosemite League match against perennial powerhouse Redwood earlier this season. The Rangers beat the Tigers 8-1.

The Tigers captured three of four matches in last weekend’s Lynch Cup Boys’ Tennis Tournament and then crushed El Diamante on the Tigers’ courts Monday afternoon as they returned to league competition.

In Bakersfield Friday, the Tigers blanked Frontier High 6-0 and then swept past Delano 5-1 Friday afternoon. On Saturday the Tigers beat Wasco 4-2 but fell to Bakersfield 2-4 in the finale.

“They had a great tournament,” said Tiger Coach Carla Bow. “I’m really proud of how the boys are progressing and how focused they were.”

Lemoore is 6-5 overall and 3-1 in the WYL.

The Tigers played a near perfect match against the Miners, winning all its singles and doubles matches, blowing out El Diamante 9-0. The Tigers were led by their singles players all of whom cruised past their opponents beginning with No. 1 singles player Spencer Denny, a 7-5, 6-3 winner. Collin Bresenio followed that up with a comfortable 6-1, 6-2 victory, while Matthew Crisci won his match 6-4, 7-5.

Luis Renteria easily won his singles match, a 6-1, 6-0 victory, and Marjaby Bresenio won 6-2, 6-2 to continue the onslaught.

Finally, rounding out singles’ play was Jonathan Santiago, a 6-2, 7-5 winner.

In doubles action, Denny and Chris Avalos easily won their match 8-1 while Crisci and Blake Nunes got past their competition 8-1.

The Tigers are scheduled to play Hanford at Lemoore High School on April 3 and then a rematch with Hanford West on April 5.
