Huskies score twice in bottom of seventh to beat Tigers 5-4 in WYL action
Lemoore is scheduled to play the Huskies again on Friday, the second half of its league back-to-back matchups with WYL opponents.
Lemoore fell to 0-1 in the WYL while posting an overall record of 2-8 on the season.
In Tuesday’s loss to the Huskies, Lemoore tied the game in the seventh inning with two runs to take a 4-3 lead, but Hanford West – with two outs – responded with a pair of runs to beat back the Tigers 5-4 and improve to 1-0 in early-season league play. The Huskies are 2-9 overall.
Lemoore’s Jerod Holaday led the Tigers with a pair of hits and scored once. Alex Sanchez had a hit and brought home a pair of RBI. Jack Foote got the only other hit for the Tigers as Huskie pitcher Val Rangel got the win.
Lemoore’s Josh Montoya suffered the loss, giving up four hits and striking out five Huskies.
The Tigers will host the Huskies on Friday at 4:15 p.m. assuming the weather holds up.
Lemoore opens play in the annual Fresno Easter Baseball Classic which begins March 26 for the Tigers. They will take on Central High in the opener at 4 p.m.
