The winter rains may put a damper on the Lemoore boys’ varsity baseball team as it hopes to rebound from its West Yosemite League opener at Hanford West High School, a game the Tigers lost 5-4.

Lemoore is scheduled to play the Huskies again on Friday, the second half of its league back-to-back matchups with WYL opponents.

In Tuesday’s loss to the Huskies, Lemoore tied the game in the seventh inning with two runs to take a 4-3 lead, but Hanford West – with two outs – responded with a pair of runs to beat back the Tigers 5-4 and improve to 1-0 in early-season league play. The Huskies are 2-9 overall.

Lemoore’s Josh Montoya suffered the loss, giving up four hits and striking out five Huskies.

The Tigers will host the Huskies on Friday at 4:15 p.m. assuming the weather holds up.
