
Suspect Alejandro Cazares
Kings County deputies didn’t have to go far to arrest a pair of suspects under the influence of a controlled substance and carrying a loaded AR-15 type rifle in their car. The suspects came to the deputies.
On Thursday, March 22, at about 9 p.m., deputies located a car that appeared to have slid off the roadway on Jackson Avenue. The car’s driver, suspect Angel Morales, was found to have an out-of-county bench warrant and was suspected of being under the influence of a controlled substance.
While the deputies were handling Morales, another vehicle, with two male occupants, arrived at the scene. According to the deputies’ report, suspects Santana Yanez and Alejandro Cazares were suspected of being under the influence of a controlled substance too.
Deputies searched of their vehicle and also several hypodermic needles in their pockets. Some of the needles contained heroin.A deputy’s K-9 searched the vehicle and alerted to additional drugs, including heroin. Deputies also found a loaded AR-15 rifle, absent of any serial numbers. Deputies also found an extra 40-round magazine in the car.
All three subjects were subsequently arrested on multiple charges: unlawful carrying of a concealed weapon in a vehicle, possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle, being under the influence of a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm, possession of a short-barreled rifle, possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and bringing a controlled substance into a detention facility.
Yanez's bail was set at $185,000, while Cazares's was set at $40,000. Morales's bail was $10,000.
