Lemoore’s varsity boys’ baseball team will get another shot at El Diamante Thursday afternoon in Visalia. The Tigers’ first attempt didn’t go too well as the Miners beat Lemoore 4-2 Tuesday afternoon in Lemoore. The loss dropped the Tigers to 1-5 in the West Yosemite League and 3-18 overall.

El Diamante is tied with Redwood for the league’s top spot at 6-1.

The Miners got on the board early with an inside-the-park home run from their first hitter, Andrew Valdez, who slipped beneath the catcher’s tag to give his team an early 1-0 lead. El Diamante scored again in the second and two more in the fifth to beat the Tigers 4-2 and hold on to their spot atop the WYL.

The Tigers scored a run in the fourth and one in the sixth.

Jared Holaday brought both runs home. He went one for two in the game as Lemoore collected just three hits on the day.

Golden West wasn’t exactly a powerhouse either at the plate, collecting just six hits on the day, two of them from TJ Martinez.

Jared Holaday went five innings for Lemoore while Riley Creech picked up the win for El Diamante.
