Kings County deputies responded to the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino on Wednesday, April 25 to a report of a five-year-old left unattended. The mother it turns out, Karla Medina, left the young girl alone in a hotel room while she went downstairs to gamble.

Palace security was notified by a customer that he found the five-year-old female child wandering around one of the floors of the hotel. The child was turned over to hotel security, and officials notified the sheriff’s department.

The mother approached security about 8 p.m. after spending several hours playing a slot machine.

Medina, a Hanford resident, was booked into the Kings County Jail for child endangerment. The child was turned over to Kings County Child Protective Services.
