Tigers baseball, softball end their seasons on a high note against rival Hanford

Lemoore High Schools varsity boys’ baseball and girls’ softball teams ended their seasons last week on a positive note as both sides wielded hot bats, beating Hanford in the West Yosemite League finals.

The Tiger boys, led by Anfernee Murrieta’s three hits, two runs, and an RBI led the way in Thursday’s 8-5 season-ending win in Hanford. The win improved the Tigers' WYL record to 3-9. Overall Lemoore finished with a 5-22 mark.

Jack Foote, recently named a Central Section Scholar-Athlete, contributed a pair of hits to the effort and an RBI.

Josiah Montoya pitched five and one-third innings for the Tigers and gave up just four hits while striking out a pair of Bullpups.

The Lady Tigers also ended the season on a high, beating the Lady Bullpups 4-1 in Lemoore. The Tigers scored a run in the first, two in the second and a final run in the sixth inning while holding Hanford to just a third-inning score. The Tigers collected 12 hits with five Tigers connecting for at least two hits apiece.

Sierra Phelps, Kyleigh Allen, Susannah Campos, Selina Perez, and McKenzie Dutra each had a pair of hits, helping pitcher Ashtyn Lucas get the win. She gave up just three hits on the day and struck out four Bullpups.

Lemoore finished the season at 4-8 in the WYL and 12-16 overall.
