Using video footage from local businesses, the Lemoore Police Department caught up with and arrested a suspect who fired a gun at the downtown Plaza Park. The incident occurred on July 2 when officers were called to a disturbance at the park at about 5:50 p.m.

They were responding to a report of a physical disturbance between several subjects and a report that one person fired a gun. Upon arrival, none of the involved parties were found, but officers found discarded clothing and evidence that a gun was fired.

The department’s detectives followed up and during their investigation identified several subjects through the use of video surveillance from several local businesses. Suspect Cyriss Clayton, of Lemoore, was identified as the person who discharged the gun.

On July 12 at about 7:30 a.m. police officers arrested Clayton at his home without incident. Officers booked the suspect into the Kings County Jail for illegally discharging a firearm with negligence and being a felon in possession of a gun. A probation hold was implemented in addition to the new charges. Clayton’s bail was set at $45,000.

Several witnesses are still being sought regarding this case, and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Santos or Detective Pescatore at 559-924-9574.
