Lemoore’s 2018 varsity girls’ tennis team will take a 1-1 record into its next match Tuesday at Dinuba High School. The Tigers dropped an 8-1 decision to Corcoran on Tuesday (Aug. 14) and opened with a victory (7-2) over Exeter High Aug. 9.
Lemoore has a lot of work to do to equal last year’s impressive run during which the Tigers finished second in the West Yosemite League standings (10-2) and 16-5 overall record.
Coach Carla Bow’s 2018 varsity girls’ team opened with an impressive win at home over Exeter. Sophia Gregoria earned the team’s “Player of the Match” with her 8-0 shutout as Tiger netters won five of the six singles matches.
Other winners included Madison Kuntz (8-5), Paige Clarke (8-4), Jenn Paez (8-2) and Alexis Escarcega (8-2).
In doubles action, the Tigers were equally impressive winning two of three matches. Winners included Kuntz and Marissa Salazar, 8-4 winners and Clarke and Anne Orton who outlasted Exeter 8—3.
In Tuesday’s (Aug. 14) effort, another home contest didn’t go as smoothly as their first match. The Tigers dropped an 8-1 decision to visiting Corcoran. The only winners on Tuesday were the doubles team of Kuntz and Aliana Cabuhat, winning 8-4.
