Tragedy at local tomato processing plant as man dies, the result of accident

It was at about 5:37 a.m. that police officers responded to a report of a traffic collision at the Olam Tomato Processing plant on South 19th Ave. During an investigation, the officers learned that an employee driving a truck and tomato trailer was having mechanical difficulties pulling out of a loading dock. A male employee attempted to assist the truck driver by releasing a valve located underneath the trailer.

The truck driver did not see the male employee get under the trailer and began moving forward with the employee underneath the trailer. The male employee sustained unknown injuries in the accident. Lifesaving measures were performed at the scene. The male was transported to Adventist Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.
