The Kings County Narcotics Task Force (KCNTF) and the Gang Task Force conducted a compliance check on Iona Avenue and discovered a large outdoor marijuana field – out of compliance with the county’s marijuana ordinance.

The October 2 compliance check found approximately 92 marijuana plants and a large amount of processed marijuana. As a result of the action, about 1,940 pounds of marijuana plants and processed marijuana were seized and then destroyed.

Investigators also seized a stolen handgun, $2,900 in currency and arrested a suspect, Jesus Moreno Cardenas of Farmersville. Cardenas was booked into the Kings County Jail on narcotic and firearms-related charges.

Marijuana grows are in season, and as a result, KCNTF is enforcing the Kings County Marijuana Ordinance to its fullest extent. Outdoor commercial and non-compliant medical marijuana grows in Kings County are prohibited by county ordinance and California state law. Details regarding the Kings County Marijuana Ordinance can be found on the County of King's website at www.countyofkings.com.
