Lemoore’s varsity football team fell to 0-2 in the West Yosemite League after Friday night’s disappointing 24-6 loss to visiting El Diamante High. The Tigers’ next chance for redemption comes this Friday night when Golden West High School comes visiting.

The Trailblazers are 1-1 in the WYL, and 3-4 overall as the league’s home stretch begins.

West Yosemite League Standings

The Tigers (2-5) have just three regular-season games remaining on their schedule, including an Oct. 19 matchup at Mt. Whitney and the season’s final regular season game against Hanford on Oct. 26 in Tiger Stadium.

Sitting atop the WYL standings are Redwood and Hanford, both sporting 2-0 records.

The Miners got on the board first in Tiger Stadium with a touchdown and a two-point conversion. They scored again in the second quarter but missed the extra-point attempt and exited the field at the half ahead 14-0.

The Tigers mounted a second-quarter drive following the second El Diamante TD. Starting on their 46-yard line, the Tigers pushed the ball up the field highlighted by a pair of passes to William Kloster, the second of which stationed the Tigers on the Miners’ 16-yard line.

A pass from quarterback Justin Holaday was just over the head of a Tiger receiver and ended the drive.

Lemoore’s only touchdown came in the final period when Brandon Hargrove scored on a touchdown pass. The talented all-around player again led all players in total yards with 94, including, most of them (94) coming from quarterback Holaday.

Kloster finished with four catches and 49 yards while Steven Wilhite had three receptions for 20 yards.
