The Kings County Sheriff’s Department, with the aid of a drug-sniffing K-9, on Saturday, Oct. 13, arrested a Hanford man and convicted felon, on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, and narcotics for sale and transportation of illegal drugs.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Saturday at about 3:30 p.m. at 10th Ave and Houston Ave for what appeared to be a vehicle code violation.  During the stop, deputies developed a suspicion that vehicle's occupant, suspect Tom Lozano, was trying to hide something in the car.

A Kings County Sheriff's K-9 was on scene and used to conduct a narcotics sniff of the car.  The K-9 alerted to the presence of illegal drugs inside the vehicle.  Deputies searched it and located approximately three pounds of methamphetamines and a loaded handgun.

The suspect, Lozano, a convicted felon, admitted to deputies that the drugs and the handgun were his. The suspect was arrested on numerous charges including being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm with the serial number altered or removed, possession of narcotics for sale and transportation of narcotics.
