Patricia (Patty) Alice Ehda, a long-time resident of Lemoore and Cayucos, passed away at her home on December 3, 2018. Born on July 10, 1943, to Norman and Louise Wolfsen, Patty grew up in Stratford, CA and attended Stratford Elementary school.

She graduated from Lemoore High School in 1961 and received a bachelor’s degree from Fresno State. She went on to receive a master’s degree in education from Fresno Pacific. Patty’s first passion was education, and she started her career teaching at Lemoore High School.  She then moved to teach at Akers Elementary. After Akers, she became a Curriculum Consultant at the Kings County Office of Education.  She finished her career in education as principal of Central Union Elementary.  During her time at Central, the school earned the California Distinguished School Award. This is the first and only time Central Union has received the award. Her teachers would say that she was a unifier and that she made coming to work a joy. She truly enjoyed her job. She was always out with the children during recess so that she could enjoy them. At Central, Patty started the breakfast program and promoted the bus delays on foggy days for the safety of the children.

After her retirement from education, she started her second career as a golfer.  She was the president of the Morro Bay Golf Club and Dairy Creek Golf Club. You could find her at either of these courses almost every day laughing with friends and having lunch at Bayside Café. She was very proud of her one Hole-in-One and eagle on the first hole and was always buying the newest clubs to make her handicap just a little bit better. She was the Club Champion at Morro Bay in 2004 and 2005.

She loved her family very much and loved to travel with them. The last trip she took was with her grandson Cole. They went to Europe together so that Cole could play baseball in Italy. They spent two weeks touring Europe exploring Italy, Switzerland, Paris, and Rome. She also loved to watch him play whenever she could.

Patty is survived by her sister, Marianne Chaney, her two daughters, Christine Ehda and Michelle Wright, her grandson, Cole Baiz, and nephews Matt Barcellos, Mike Barcellos, and Mark Barcellos.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at 1:00 pm in the home of the Billingsley’s, 300 Fairview Ave in Morro Bay. The event is casual, as that is how Patty would have wanted it.
