Rafael “Ray” Garcia Gomez returned to his heavenly home on January 12, 2019.  He passed away of natural causes in Morgan Hill, CA.

Ray was born to the late Tereso Gomez and Asuncion Garcia Gomez in Manaoag,Philippines  on June 20, 1940.  Ray served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and retired as a Chief Petty Officer and went on to perform civil service for another 22 years with The Boeing Company in Lemoore NAS.

He was proud of his military service and understood what an honor and a privilege it was to be an American citizen.  He met his wife, Tulia Castillo Gomez, in Long Beach, CA where he was first stationed.

Ray was an avid golfer and golfed every chance he could.  He enjoyed watching movies at the theater and sporting events.  He loved traveling to various places with his wife, Tulia, as well as, visiting the Bay Area to spend time with his grandchildren, family, and friends. 

He will always be remembered as someone who would greet you with a warm smile and a hug when you met him.  He will be greatly missed.

Ray is survived by his wife, Tulia Gomez of Lemoore, CA, his daughter, Michelle Gomez of San Jose, CA, his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Steven Lowe of San Jose, CA, his son and his daughter-in-law, Rafael Gomez, Jr and Irene Cariaso-Gomez of Morgan Hill, his brother and sister-in-law, Butch and Angelica Gomez of Camarillo, CA, his brother and sister-in-law, Joaquin and Marcelina Gomez and his grandchildren, Hanna, Joshua, Ava, Kaitlyn, Gabrielle, Kristen and Kai.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 18th from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. at St. Peters Catholic Church. A Vigil Rosary Service will be held on Friday at 6:00 P.M. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial for Ray will be held on Saturday, January 19th at 11:00 A.M. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, with the burial to follow at Lemoore Cemetery.
