Golden Eagles women take early 18-0 lead and coast to CVC win over visiting Taft College. Men's team continues its losing streak

West Hills College Lemoore’s women’s basketball team improved to 6-13 Saturday night, jumping to an 18-0 first-half lead before finally defeating visiting Taft College 47-31 in the Golden Eagle Arena. The men's team fell to 0-20 with its loss to West Hills Coalinga.

The Golden Eagles women travel to Visalia on Jan. 20 for a matchup with College of the Sequoias and then go to Reedley College on Saturday, Feb. 2 as they continue their play in the Central Valley Conference.

Leading the Eagles Saturday night were Alejandra Fernandez with 11 points and 10 rebounds and Jasmine Xiong’s 10 points, 10 rebounds and three assists. Alondra Ponce scored nine points while Ashley Anchondo chipped in with six.

Nicole Mercado had three assists and 10 rebounds.

The men’s team continued to struggle, this time against visiting West Hills Coalinga. The Falcons defeated the Eagles 94-56 in the Golden Eagle arena. The West Hills Lemoore squad fell to 0-20 on the year. The team’s next action comes on Wednesday, Jan. 20 at Fresno City College.
