Tiger soccer team beats McLane. On to Madera South for Central Section Div. 3 semi-finals

Lemoore’s vaunted boys’ soccer team have a second date with Madera South, and the winner will go to the Division 3 Central Section championship game. The Tigers earned another shot at Madera South be defeating McLane 3-1 Friday night in Tiger Stadium.

The two squads will play their semi-final match on Feb. 19 at 6 p.m. at Madera South High School

Tuesday's playoff match will be the second time the Tigers have had to travel to Madera. They lost a disappointing 2-1 decision on Dec. 11 in a pre-season contest. The Stallions had an impressive 20-5-1 record overall and a County Metro League record of 6-3-1 to finish second behind Bullard High School.

Madera South was ranked No. 1 in Division 3 while Lemoore checked in at No. 4.

The Tigers beat McLane despite hard rain and cold and windy weather. Lemoore dominated the first half but managed to hold off the Highlanders in a difficult second half.

For the Tigers, Pete Hawken scored the first goal, and Jalen Chavez scored the second from a free kick at the top of the penalty box. Lemoore’s third score came on a header by Matt Ramirez.

Lemoore improved to 16-5-2 overall.
