Rancheria man arrested by Kings County deputies as suspect in attempted homicide

Kings County deputies arrested a Santa Rosa Rancheria man as a suspect in the stabbing of another man. The incident occurred on Saturday, March 2 at about 5 a.m.

It was early Saturday morning when deputies responded to Atwell Court to begin the stabbing investigation. Upon arriving on the scene, deputies discovered a male victim lying in the middle of the roadway with multiple stab wounds to his head and neck and bleeding profusely.

The victim was transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for his injuries.

Deputies contacted several witnesses who were exiting the home and learned that the suspect was possibly Elijah Cargo. According to the sheriff's report, Cargo, 22, made several announcements, then exited and was taken into custody. Deputies state that Cargo had a laceration on his hand, possibly received during his altercation with the victim. Cargo was transported to CRMC to get treatment for his hand.

Cargo was taken and booked into the Kings County Jail on charges of attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, and a parole violation. Bail set at $500,000.
