Tigers' softball in unusual tie game at Madera Tourney. Drop game to Madera South

The Lemoore High School varsity softball team sort of split their games on Saturday losing a 5-2 decision to Madera South High School, and in an earlier game that day – due to time constraints – ended up in an unusual 2-2  tie with Chowchilla, both games part of the Madera South Softball Tournament.

Lemoore is 2-3-1 on the season as it prepares to open West Yosemite League play on Friday in Lemoore against Redwood High School.

Lemoore was scheduled to play Tulare Western Tuesday (Mar. 19) in a regularly scheduled home contest at 4:30 p.m. on the Tigers’ softball field.

The Tigers put together five hits, including a double off the bat of Susannah Campos, who also scored one of the Tigers’ two runs. Madison Martinez, Megan VanAllen, McKenzie Dutra, and Leslie Segura also had hits for the Tigers who scored a run in the second and one in the fifth.

Madera South got all the runs they would need in the first inning and two more in the third to get past Lemoore. Segura went four innings for the Tigers, giving up seven hits and walking two.

In the earlier game versus Chowchilla, the two teams fought to a 2-2 tie before the game ended due to a tournament rule invoking a time limit. In that game, Selina Perez went two for three at the plate while Campos and Shelley Jobe each got a hit. Campos and Jobe each had an RBI.
