Tigers assault on West Yosemite League slowed by Friday loss to visiting Hanford. Redwood looms next
The Lady Tigers hope to get back on track Wednesday when they visit Visalia to begin the league’s second round of games. The Rangers beat Lemoore 11-0 on the Tigers home turf March 22.
Earlier this week the Tigers crushed Mt. Whitney 12-1 to keep within striking distance of the league’s top tier. In that game Tomi Ford went the distance, allowing just seven hits and one run. Her teammates provided all the fireworks she needed, allowing Lemoore to improve to 3-1.

In that game against the Pioneers, Kara Tellefson flexed her muscles at the plate. She was four for five with an RBI and two runs scored. Madison Martinez was two for four with a pair of RBI. McKenzie Dutra had three hits in three trips with a pair of RBI as Tiger bats unloaded on Mt. Whitney’s pitching corps.
The game, despite the final score, was almost neck and neck until the fifth inning. Leading 2-1 entering the top of the fifth, Lemoore scored ten runs to ensure a win.
On Friday in Lemoore, the Tigers just couldn’t get anything going. Hanford broke a scoreless tie with a run in the third and two more in the fourth to take a 3-0 lead into the seventh where the Bullpups scored two more runs to account for the final score.
The Tigers got the hits, six of them, but they just couldn’t get runs across the plate as Shelby Jobe led Lemoore with a pair of hits. Sierra Phelps, Selina Perez, and Megan Van Allen each had a hit in the disappointing loss.
Segura suffered the loss. She went the distance allowing nine hits, walked five and struck out one Bullpup.
