Lemoore RV Club looking for a few good members for fun, relaxation and travel
Retired longtime Lemoore Recreation Director, Tom Hernandez, who helped to get the group started a little over a year ago, imagined how much fun it would be to bring together a group of folks who enjoyed camping. The Lemoore Parks and Recreation Department signed on and agreed to sponsor the group.
Within its first year, Club members have made camping trips to several RV Parks and campgrounds: El Chorro, Lake Tulloch, Lopez Lake, Morro Dunes, Wishon, Royal Oak, Lake San Antonio, Bass Lake, and Sequoia Ranch. Trips currently on the docket for the remainder of 2019 include a return to Morro Dunes and Wishon, as well as trips to Lake Cachuma, Lake Havasu, and Laughlin, Nevada.
Membership in the Club, with its whopping $15 per year per “rig” fee payable to the Lemoore Rec Dept., now stands at 27 rigs. Of course, not all members can make all of the trips – several members have other time commitments. Recreational vehicles run the full gamut from small trailers, tent trailers, fifth wheel trailers, Class A, B, and C motorhomes, and cab-over campers.
Camping trips typically include a few potlucks (RV Club members are GOOD EATERS!), campfires, lots of games, sightseeing, fishing and golfing for those who enjoy that; but most importantly, relaxing, visiting and forming new friendships! The Club also plans a few non—camping activities, such as BBQ’s, Lemoore Veteran’s Parade participation, and a Grizzlies baseball game.
The Club also has meetings every couple of months to plan upcoming trips and gatherings, and officially welcome new members. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 8 at 6 p.m. at the Lemoore Veterans Hall at 411 West D Street. The RV Club enthusiastically welcomes ALL potential new members.
