Tiger softball wins three in tourney, baseball continues to struggle as WYL play resumes
On Tuesday, the Tigers couldn’t quite overcome six runs from Placer High School and fell 6-5. Lemoore finally ended the tournament with a 5-4 victory over Santana High on Wednesday (April 17). In that final game, Lemoore had only four hits on the day, and one of them came off the bat of Justin Holaday who brought home a pair of runs.
In the narrow loss to Placer Lemoore managed just five hits but still scored six runs. The Tigers leading hitter, Able Garza, led the Tigers with two hits. Justin Holaday had one hit, a double, to bring home a pair of runs.
The Tigers will return to familiar territory next week when they host Mt. Whitney on April 24 in the first of four remaining West Yosemite League games. Going into those final contests Lemoore is 1-5.
Lemoore’s softball team, 4-3 in the WYL race, hopes to improve on that mark when it takes on Golden West on Wednesday, April 24 in Visalia. The Tigers have just three games left, including an April 26 game in Lemoore against Mt. Whitney and the finale at Hanford High School.
The Tigers played respectably, winning three games in the Tulare Classic Softball Tournament, beating Reedley 6-2 in a Friday matchup and then against Porterville crushing the Panthers 9-0. Lemoore then fell 4-3 to Exeter. Lemoore also defeated Tulare Union 4-2.
In the Porterville game Lemoore’s Susannah Campos and Sierra Phelps each had three hits in the easy victory. Campos drove home three runs in the game. The Tigers put the game away in the fourth with five runs.
Tomi Ford got the win going three innings for the Tigers, striking out three and allowing just three hits.
