Sizzling night at the Sarah Mooney Museum, as enthusiasts celebrate supporters and engraved brick program
Those who attended Saturday’s event settled into their lawn chairs, sipped cool drinks, and listened to the rock and roll melodies of the Macey Blue Band, a local band that, despite the toasty weather and an inordinate amount of perspiration, played for well over an hour.
Saturday night’s get-together was a way to acknowledge a new set of engraved bricks chamber officials and volunteers installed along the Mooney’s front walkway on Friday, July 19. The installers included the museum’s board president, Michael Betcher, Dave and Jeanine Simas, and Dean Lahodney.

Board members plan to continue this successful fundraising campaign that acknowledges donors who purchase engraved bricks. The program was on a hiatus for several years and was revived last fall.
Museum officials are encouraging local residents, business, and others to order an engraved brick. The next order will be on September 29, and those bricks will be installed prior to the museum’s annual Christmas Open House on Dec. 1.
The minimum donation for a 4 x 8-inch engraved brick is $100; minimum for an 8 x 8 engraved brick is $500. Funds raised by the sale of bricks are used for Sarah Mooney Museum renovation projects, several currently in the planning stages.
The Museum is totally dependent on private donations and fundraising events such as the Annual Legends of Lemoore Cemetery Walk (scheduled for Saturday, September 28). The Museum receives no public funding.
