The Kings County Sheriff’s Department, in an update to its investigation of the incident that resulted in the deaths of three persons on November 2, including a Lemoore police officer, announced that the third man, Ramiro Trevino Sr., died of his wounds just two days later on Nov. 4.

The incident, which occurred on Saturday, Nov. 2, at about 9 p.m., occurred on Hanford's Eddy Street. Upon arrival, deputies found two deceased males: Lemoore Police Officer Jonathan Diaz and Ramiro Trevino Jr. Deputies say Trevino Jr. had killed himself after killing Diaz and critically shooting his father, Trevino Sr.

During the investigation, detectives recovered audio and video from a surveillance camera located at the residence, and based on audio and video evidence, and witness statements, determined that the incident began as a domestic violence situation between Trevino Jr. and his girlfriend that rapidly evolved into a murder/suicide.

The department’s investigation determined that Trevino Sr., Jonathan Diaz, and a family friend intervened in a domestic violence dispute where the pregnant victim was being beaten and choked by Trevino Jr. Trevino Jr. also threatened to kill the victim during the assault. Officer Diaz, Trevino Sr. and the friend intervened, removing the victim from the residence to safety.

Immediately after getting the victim outside of the residence, a gunshot was heard from inside of the home.

Diaz and Trevino Sr. ran back into the residence to check on Trevino Jr. They encountered Trevino Jr., who had armed himself with multiple firearms. Diaz attempted to diffuse the situation, but instead, Trevino Jr. shot the Lemoore officer and then fired on Trevino Sr.

Trevino Jr. committed suicide by shooting himself in the head.

According to the sheriff’s report, the actions of Diaz, Trevino Sr., and a family friend were instrumental in saving the life of the victim and others who were departing the residence when Trevino Jr. opened fire.
