Tigers hoop teams get off to slow start as teams look forward to holiday basketball tourneys
Lemoore fell to 0-1 on the season and will face North High School Dec. 4 in the Corcoran Girls Varsity Basketball Tournament.
Lemoore hosted Selma on Thursday night and despite scoring just 19 second-half points, managed to keep the score relatively close, but still lost 53-41.
The two teams scored almost at will in the first quarter and the Bears lead 30-22 at the break. But both teams failed to score a point in the second quarter before the Bears finally broke loose in the third, outscoring Lemoore 11-2 to take up their lead.
The Tigers came on strong in the fourth, outscoring Selma 17-12.
Lemoore’s varsity boys team fell to 0-2 on the year, dropping a disappointing 90-62 matchup with Oakland Tech Thursday night in the opener of the Valley Children’s Tip Off Invitational. On Nov. 19 Tulare Western defeated the Tigers 70-58.
The Tigers have games scheduled for Friday and Saturday in the tournament.
