Lemoore police, Kings County officers, arrest suspect on charges of selling marijuana to minors

It was on Friday, December 20, that Lemoore Police Department Youth Development Officers alerted to potential marijuana sales to minors, began a thorough investigation that included collaboration with the Kings County Major Crimes Task Force.

The joint effort ended up identifying a 19-year-old Lemoore suspected of selling marijuana to minors under the age of 14 – and other serious charges.

On Thursday, December 27, Kings County Major Crimes Task Force investigators served a search warrant on Dexter Kelly, 19, suspected of furnishing marijuana to juveniles. He was subsequently arrested for the offense.

During a search of Kelly’s residence, law enforcement officers found evidence of marijuana sales and evidence of sales of a controlled substance. Officers also found a loaded firearm with the serial number removed.

The suspect, Kelly, was transported to the Kings County Jail and booked for selling marijuana to minors under the age of 14, child endangerment, possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of a loaded firearm while in possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm with a missing serial number, possession of a loaded and unlocked firearm within reach of a child, and marijuana sales. His bail was set at $190,000.
