Thanks to its 4-2-2 record, Lemoore’s varsity boys’ soccer team remains among the leaders in the West Yosemite League but fell to third place in the league standings after Friday night’s 2-1 loss go visiting Golden West High School.

Golden West leads with a 6-1-1 mark while El Diamante is second at 5-2-1, and Lemoore holds on to third place as it plans to host Mt. Whitney on Tuesday in Tiger Stadium. Lemoore will complete its regular season at Hanford on Feb. 6.

The Tigers are an impressive 13-6-3 on the season and battle the Blazers to the end but couldn’t quite finish the job, losing 2-1 in overtime when the Trailblazers succeeded on a penalty kick.

Lemoore tied the match in the second half with a Diego Nunez goal tied the game, but the Blazers put it away in the overtime period and held on to maintain their hold on the league’s top spot.

In girls’ action, the Lady Tigers fell 2-0 at Golden West Friday night. Lemoore fell to 0-8 in the WYL and 0-16-2 overall.
