Lemoore Police Department officers, on March 17 at about 10 a.m. responded to a location on N. Lemoore Avenue regarding a pair of subjects suspiciously checking the door handles of cars in the parking lot, attempting to get into vehicles.

Officers arrived in the area and located a male matching one of the suspect descriptions. The male suspect was later identified as 34-year-old Jesus Serratos-Lazaro, of Kerman. Serratos-Lazaro attempted to evade officers, got into a car, and drove away.  Officers quickly followed in pursuit.  The suspect’s vehicle sped westbound on W. Hanford Armona Road,  ran the red light at the Highway 41 intersection and then turned southbound on Highway 41 in the northbound lanes.

Due to the risk to the public, Officers discontinued pursuing the vehicle at this time.

A short time later, officers observed the vehicle crash into a street sign at the intersection of W. Bush St. and the southbound Highway 41 exit ramp. Officers saw Serratos-Lazaro exit the vehicle and run northbound. Serratos-Lazaro was apprehended by officers after a short chase on foot.

The police booked Serratos-Lazaro into the Kings County Jail for evading police officers, evading while driving the wrong way on a roadway, hit and run, driving on a suspended license, and resisting an officer.  Serratos-Lazaro’s bail was set at $85,000.
