Lemoore Police Department detectives arrest two in April 5 gang-related shooting

Lemoore police officers, following up on a Sunday, April 5, shooting incident in Lemoore, investigated and arrested a pair of suspects connected to the shootings. It was in the afternoon of April 5 that the department received calls regarding shots fired in the Fox and D street area.

During their investigation, detectives determined that the Sunday incident was a gang-related shooting. Detectives identified the primary suspect as Juan Carlos Linares, 20. 

On Tuesday, April 7, Lemoore detectives and the Kings County Major Crimes Task Force located Linares, and during a traffic stop, arrested him. Linares had a stolen loaded handgun. The driver of the vehicle, accompanying Linares, Miguel Montes, 24, was also arrested for weapons violations and participation in a criminal street gang during the commission of a crime.

Detectives learned that Linares was staying at a residence on Laurel Ln. in Lemoore. Detectives served a search warrant at Linares’ home. They recovered military-grade body armor, a ballistic helmet, gun belt, gun holster, gang indicia, and some of the clothing that Linares was wearing the day of the shooting.

The military equipment was reported stolen as a result of a vehicle burglary that occurred on February 14. 

Police booked Linares and Montes into the Kings County Jail. Police charged Linares with attempted murder, gang enhancement, and multiple firearm violations. Bail was set at $955,000. Miguel Montes was charged with multiple firearm violations and a gang enhancement. Bail was set at $240,000.
