Kings County deputies make arrest in spousal abuse case after short high-speed chase

Kings County deputies arrested a 35-year-old Kings County man following a four-mile high-speed chase that ended when the suspect, Rocco Miller, 35, crashed his vehicle into a local store's outdoor sign near 12th Avenue.

The incident occurred on Thursday, April 16, when at about at 9 p.m., while deputies investigated a domestic violence incident. During the investigation, deputies spotted the suspect, Miller, driving near 9th Avenue and East Lacey Boulevard. When the deputies attempted a traffic stop, Miller failed to yield and led them on the pursuit.

Miller, according to deputies, reached speeds of 100 miles per hour, failing to stop at posted signs, and red lights. The pursuit lasted for approximately four miles.

The suspect, Miller, attempted a turn onto Hayden Avenue, from 12th Avenue and ran his vehicle into a tractor supply store's advertising sign, located on the corner. Following the collision, Miller exited his vehicle and ran away. Deputies caught up with the suspect with the assistance of a Kings County Sheriff's Office K-9, "Dash." Miller was arrested and taken to Adventist Medical Center in Hanford and treated for injuries.

Deputies booked Miller into the Kings County Jail for violation of  California Penal Code 273.5, spousal abuse, California Vehicle Code 2800.2, evading a peace officer, California Vehicle Code 2800.4, evading a peace officer, California Penal Code 148(a)(1), resisting arrest, California Penal Code 69, resisting arrest by using force, and California Vehicle Code 20002(a), hit and run.

Miller is currently being held in the Kings County Jail on $40,000 bail.
