On a Sunday, April 19, while on patrol about 1:30 a.m., a sheriff's deputy spotted a black, Kia Optima parked inside an orchard near the City of Corcoran, and as the deputy checked on the vehicle, the driver suddenly left the scene.

The suspect, later identified as Ryan Rodriguez, 18, committed a vehicle code violation by leaving the orchard, driving quickly onto 7th Avenue in an attempt to evade the deputy.

At times, Ryan drove at speeds of 90 miles per hour and failed to stop at several stop signs.

At 6 1/2 Avenue and Sherman Avenue, the suspect lost control of the vehicle and drove into an orchard. Rodriguez ran from the car. The deputy checked the vehicle for other occupants and alerted local Corcoran police officers, providing them with the suspect’s description.

A female juvenile was found in the suspect’s car who was later released to family members.
