A Lemoore Police Officer, patrolling in the Sierra Circle area of Lemoore at about 8 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 17, conducted a traffic enforcement stop for an equipment violation on a GMC Pick-up truck.

Police identified the driver as 26-year-old, Richard Corbitt, of Atascadero.  It turns out that Corbitt was unlicensed and currently on Post Community Release Supervision.

The police officer discovered that the suspect had illegal narcotics. A search of the truck turned up three boxes of ammunition, a loaded firearm, and additional unlawful drugs, including methamphetamine and fentanyl.

Further investigation revealed Corbitt was also in possession of debit cards belonging to other people and receipts showing fraudulent withdrawals from those cards for thousands of dollars.  Over two thousand dollars cash from those fraudulent withdrawals were recovered.

Corbitt was charged with suspicion of several felonies including possession of a firearm by a felon, a felon in possession of ammunition, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance while armed, carrying a gun concealed in a vehicle, and participating in a criminal street gang.

His bail was set at $140,000.00. Corbitt was already out on bail in San Luis Obispo County for multiple felony charges. A female passenger was detained and later released without charges.
