Lemoore POP team arrests suspect and booked her into jail for suspected drug possession

On September 15, at approximately 2:43 p.m., a Lemoore police officer assigned to the POP Team (Problem-Oriented Policing) conducted a traffic stop in the area of East D St. and 17th Ave.

The driver, identified as Melanise Binion, 47,  was suspected of driving with a suspended license. Binion exited the vehicle and had some items in her possession. She appeared to be trying to conceal the items from the officer.

Police say that the items in her possession consisted of 36.1 grams of heroin, 14.4 grams of methamphetamine, and $786.

Detectives assisted with the investigation and determined Binion was staying at a hotel in Lemoore. A search was conducted of Binion’s room, and police found an additional 4.8 grams of heroin and a scale.  

Binion was later booked at the Kings County Jail for violations of suspected possession of a controlled substance (heroin), possession of narcotics for sale (heroin), transportation of a controlled substance for sale (heroin), possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of narcotics for sale (methamphetamine), transportation of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), committing a felony while out on bail, and being suspected of being under the influence of a controlled substance.
