A Lemoore police officer conducted a traffic stop at around 8 p.m. on September 30 on a vehicle observed exceeding the South Lemoore Avenue's speed limit.  Police later identified the driver as 21-year-old Joshua Cotton of Lemoore.

A records check revealed that Cotton was, according to police, driving with a suspended license and that he was currently on probation.  Police searched Cotton’s vehicle and found an unassembled pistol and ammunition. Further investigation found that the suspect, Cotton, was a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition.  Police also reported that the suspect was in possession of methamphetamines.

Cotton was arrested and booked into the Kings County Jail for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, ammunition, methamphetamine and driving on a suspended license. Cotton’s bail was set at $75,000.
