Kings deputies arrest Hanford juvenile engaged in 100 miles-per-hour pursuit

On Wednesday, January 27, at approximately 2:30 a.m., a Hanford police officer attempted a traffic enforcement stop on a 2011 Toyota Sienna and its driver. Unfortunately, the Sienna failed to stop and instead ran through a stop sign, almost striking the officer’s patrol unit.

The Sienna’s driver refused to pull over, and the officer initiated a pursuit. The Sienna headed east, and once it reached the area of Grangeville Boulevard and 8 ½ Avenue, the Hanford Police Department asked the Kings County Sheriff’s Office to take over the pursuit.

The sheriff’s office had a unit in the area, and it took over the pursuit as it changed directions and headed west on Highway 198 near 10th Avenue.

The suspect vehicle was traveling at speeds well over 100 miles-per-hour.

The Sienna’s driver drove into the City of Hanford and continually failed to stop for red lights and stop signs.

The pursuit lasted approximately 15 minutes and ended when the suspect collided with two parked vehicles in the 1500 block of North White Street in Hanford.

The driver, a 15-year-old juvenile, remained in the vehicle after the crash and was then taken into custody. There were two juvenile male passengers inside the vehicle both of whom were released to their parents.

The Sienna was determined to have been stolen. The driver was booked into the Kings County Juvenile Center on the charges of felony pursuit and driving a stolen vehicle.
