A Hanford man was arrested for violation of a domestic violence restraining order and possession of drug paraphernalia, charges the Kings County Sheriff’s Office say stemmed from a “misuse” of the county’s 911 system.

On Wednesday, February 17, the Hanford Police Department Dispatch Center received a 911 call from a male subject – later identified as a suspect, Heath Brazil, who stated he was at his residence in Hanford.  While on the line with the emergency dispatcher, Brazil asked if he was speaking to the “real” 911 and asked to be transferred to the Kings County Sheriff’s Office.

When asked what Heath’s emergency was, he stated, “nothing” and that he “just wanted to be left alone.”  Brazil told the Hanford Police Department dispatcher that his call was a prank.  The dispatcher transferred Brazil to the Kings County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center.

Once on the line with KCSO Dispatch, Brazil asked for a sheriff’s deputy by name, asking to have the deputy respond to his house.  The suspect refused to give his name or address to the KCSO Dispatcher.  Brazil told the dispatcher he no longer used drugs and hung up on her.

Brazil called the Hanford dispatch again on 911 and told the dispatcher he was “sorry for wasting her time.”

Brazil also placed a 911 call to the Visalia Police Department.  During this call, Brazil advised that a Kings County deputy was assaulting him at the deputy’s residence in Tulare County.  During the time of the call, the deputy was working in Hanford.

Brazil called 911 multiple times and identified himself as the Kings County deputy, stating he was prank calling and stating he had the wrong number.

On Wednesday, February 17, Brazil also contacted an adult female, someone who had filed a domestic violence restraining order against him.

Detectives responded to Brazil’s residence on 7th Avenue.  Detectives conducted a parole search of the suspect’s residence and located drug paraphernalia.  Brazil was arrested and transported to the Kings County jail.

Brazil was booked into the Kings County Jail for PC 273.6; Violation of Domestic Violence Restraining Order and HS 11364; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Health’s bail was set at $20,000.  Heath was also held on a no-bail parole hold.

Detectives sent the case to the Kings County District Attorney’s Office to review charges for the misuse of the 9-1-1 system.
