Tiger youngsters, 0-2 during shortened football season, tackle Hanford Friday night for Milk Can
The Tigers on Friday night fell behind early in the first quarter but rebounded to score three touchdowns in each of the remaining quarters. Still, it wasn’t quite enough to hold off Tulare Western as the visitors managed a fourth-quarter field goal to provide the winning margin.
Sophomore quarterback Ty Chambers tossed a pair of touchdowns to Demel Turner and a third to Koy Davis to account for the Tigers’ scoring effort.
This Friday, the Tigers will host a 1-1 Hanford squad coming off a 13-7 loss on Friday to Tulare Union (3-1). The Bullpups managed to ease past Mission Oak High School in their season opener 20-6 on March 26.
Friday night’s showdown in Tiger Stadium will conclude Lemoore’s brief three-game season, while the Bullpups will conclude the following week (April 22) with a home contest against Edison High School.
Tiger Coach Rich Tuman said his team would be ready to go Friday (April 16) night when the Bullpups come to town. “We’re excited,” he told The Leader. “It’s our goal to bring the Milk Can home. We’ve got a young team, and we’re improving.”
Game time is 7 p.m. in Tiger Stadium.
