Lemoore High School hopes to get back on track on Friday when its varsity football team hosts Sanger High. The Tigers dropped a disappointing 31-21 non-league game at Kingsburg (1-1) Friday night, their first season loss. The 2-1 Tigers hope to get back on track after convincing victories over Washington Union (15-6) and Chowchilla (47-6) when they host Sanger High School on Friday (Sept. 10) in Tiger Stadium. Gametime is 7:30 p.m.

The Apaches are 1-1 coming into Tiger Stadium. Sanger dropped its opener to Clovis High 35-12 and rebounded for a 27-7 victory the following week against Roosevelt High.

Against the Vikings on Friday night, the Tigers took the early lead, scoring quickly following a 70-yard march down the field, ending with a touchdown pass, the first of three TDs on the night. According to the stat sheet, quarterback Ty Chambers was 15 for 22 for 182 yards and three touchdowns.

Chambers also rushed for 84 yards on 10 carries.

Kingsburg scored on a rushing touchdown midway through the first quarter and successfully went for the two-point conversion to grab the lead from the Tigers 7-8.

With about a minute left in the first quarter, Lemoore scored again on a pass play for a TD and a 13-8 lead. The Tigers missed the extra point.

The Vikings managed to shut out the Tigers in the second quarter 13-0 to take a 21-13 halftime lead.

However,  Chambers completed a 9-yard scoring pass to D’Marcus Watson early in the third quarter for a touchdown and then scored on a 2-point conversion to Cory Whitmore to tie Kingsburg 21-21.

However, the Tigers were held scoreless the rest of the way as Kingsburg scored twice for a 31-21 victory.

In girls volleyball action, the 3-1 Tigers travel to Monache High School for a 6:30 p.m. non-league contest and will follow up with a Sept. 22 matchup with fellow West Yosemite League foe Redwood High.
