Tigers take 2-0 West Yosemite League lead as LHS host Trailblazers Friday night
The Tigers tackle Golden West Friday night and hope to improve on their 6-1 overall record and 2-0 WYL mark.
Gametime is 7:30 p.m. Friday as the Trailblazers bring a mediocre 2-5 record into Tiger Stadium. The Trailblazers have not fared well in the WYL, losing a 41-0 contest to Redwood. The Tigers defeated the Rangers in an October 1 game, 21-14.
Lemoore's latest victory came Friday night (October 8) in Tiger Stadium against the Miners as the upstart Tigers outlasted their formidable opponent 34-30 to remain unbeaten in the WYL.
Lemoore is 6-1 on the season, and the only loss was to Kingsburg on September 3.
The Tigers took the early lead on a Ty Pele-Chambers 12-yard touchdown pass to receiver Kobe Green in the first quarter for a 7-0 lead.
Still, in the first quarter, the Miners struck back with about five minutes left in the period when Miner quarterback Freddy Valencia connected on a 26-yard pass to Nick Nelson. The two-point conversion failed and left the Miners trailing 7-6.
Chambers tossed his second TD pass to Preston Scott for a 39-yard touchdown as the Tigers took a 14-6 lead.
In the second quarter, the Miners Valencia scored on a 28-yard pass to receiver Nick Nelson to tie the Tigers following a successful two-point conversion.
The Tigers went ahead again in the second on a Pele-Chambers 27-yard TD pass to Kobe Green to up the margin to 21-14.
The Miners went ahead late in the second quarter on a rushing TD and a two-point conversion to take a 22-21 lead going into the half.
Andrew Moench scored on a pair of running plays, a two-yard play to put the Tigers up 27-22 and a few minutes later a 9-yard TD to give the Tigers a 34-22 lead early in the fourth quarter.
Lemoore hung on for a 34-30 win.
